Overgrown dendrobium keiki?
Default Overgrown dendrobium keiki?

Hi,

I bought this orchid at a plant sale at my local botanical gardens, they said most of their plants were donations from members. I'm thinking it's a dendrobium but it hasn't done much since I got it. Am thinking of repotting it soon since it's so small for the pot that its curgently in. The bottom part used to be green but now it's yellowed. I guess I'd like to know what it is so I can proceed appropriately. Thanks in advance!

Yes, looks to be dendrobium - I'm not certain of the type; nobile type, maybe ? Hopefully some others will chime in.

It's hard for me to tell from the pix - but that brown area - is the keiki growing on that? If so, you can remove the keiki from it. How does that brown part feel - is it firm?

From the picture, it could be a den phal, see if you can bent the leaf easily, if not, it's a den phal, if you can, then it's nobiles.

Thanks for the replies. Yes the brown part is very firm and almost woody feeling. The leaves are a little bit stiff but not as stiff as my other mystery dendrobium which is currently blooming and looks like a den phal to me. Here are some close up pics of the brown part, the last pic is of my blooming dendrobium.
