Question about a tagged orchid
Default Question about a tagged orchid

My Paphiopedilum came with this tag. I was told it's a Hsinying art pie. But this tag says x Hsinying Citron. So does this mean the art pie is crossed w the citron?

Strange, there was another reply here earlier. Whatever is before the X is the mother plant and whatever is after is the dad. So this is a cross between two hybrids. Paphiopedilum Hsinying Art Pie is the pod parent. Paphiopedilum Hsinying Citron is the pollen parent, and it is a named clone of Hsinying Citron, 'C. H. #6'. I don't know what SM/TPS is except it may be an award from the Taiwan Paphiopedilum Society.

You are correct. It indicates a Silver medal from the Taiwan Paphiopedilum Society. The SM belongs to the pollen parent, not the seedling you have.

That is strange, my original reply has disappeared completely. I had checked in OrchidWiz and found it is a registered hybrid by Ching Hua in 2013. The hybrid name is Hsinying Ashley.

OK, that explains it. They can get bumped down after 24 hrs if no further response has been made on them to bump them up so it is likely a few pages back.
