Those photos were of two spikes blooming at the same time on one plant -
Typically, the flowers open pink, with the magenta spots and lip, and with time, the petals become a soft yellow (still with the magenta spots and lip). In this particular instance, the plant had been growing on my windowsill, and had two spikes developing, one a bit further along than the other - when buds on the first spike opened (the usual pink color), it didn't fit on the windowsill any longer, so I moved it to the (very dim) bathroom. The buds on the second spike were still developing at that time, and when they opened they were that fantastic yellow
