My name is Sebastian(=naitsabeS )
I come from Germany and I registered because I think, you can help me.
I have a Scaphyglottis, but I don't know, which Scaphyglottis it is:
Directupload.net - 45glurjj.jpg
Directupload.net - 25lliwf6.jpg
the labium(=lip?) is on both sides asymmetric pink colored, but very light.
Do you know, which species it is?
I'll thank you all for your hopefully upcoming help
I am sorry for my bad english
greets
Sebastian

Hello, Ross!
Thank you!
I visited this site, but I didn't find it
I hope, the flower will grow a little bit more and I hope, it will open a bit more, so that I can shoot a better picture of it.
But I think it won't open more or will grow longer. I think it was the first flower since I got it, and I think the plant has not had the optimal condition, so, maybe, it won't grow longer and bloom better.
general, I know the climatic needs, but something did go wrong there.

Consider the following for the genus:
An epiphytic or sometimes lithophytic genus , with highly variable plant forms, that has around 50 rarely seen species from Central America, the West Indies and south to Bolivia and Brazil. Culturally these species can be grown in the same conditions that the psuedobulbed Epidendrum need. The species range in altitude from sealevel to high in the Andes so temperatures requirements are based on the location and habitat of each individual species. They like sunny, well watered conditions while growing and a lessening after flowering or the psuedobulbs maturation. The genus is characterized by the havit of putting out one psudobulb on top of the next and having very small terminal inflorescence with tiny flowers held close to the psuedobulb. The flowers have similar sized petals and sepals and a lip that is slightly larger is attached to the prominent column foot which carries 4 pollina with caudicles at the apex. This would (in my opinion) mean high light, frequent watering, but not standing in water (ie. "moist") a media such as fine bark meant for Paphs, and temperatures intermediate (15-26 degrees C). Just my guess based on what I read here and the Epis I have.

Ross:
Many, many Thanks!
Thank you a lot!
If the Scaphyglottis flower opens 100%, I will shoot a better picture of it!

Hallo sebastian!
I am not an expert on this genus but... here my
hhmm... where di you have the plant from? I think that's a good start point, in order to identify it. If from a nursery, the best is to contact them and ask. Scaphyglottis is not a genus that you see very often on sales, and therefore, you should try reduce the options to the most common species, and then continue on that path... Where are you in Germany?, if I may ask...

Hello, kavanaru:
I did an internship at the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh!
The gardener - Bruce Robertson - said, I can take a few plants.
But:
He called this plant Scaphyglottis cuneata, but it is not a S. cuneata.
I think, the gardener at the RBG Edinburgh made a mistake.

indeed, it des not look like cuneata... In your case, I would try sending the pictures to Bruce Robertson and asking him again... sometimes plants are mislabelled at Botanical Gardens but the curators/gardeners are able to identify the mistake when seeing the flowers... at least, that was my experience when working at the Botanical Garden in Heidelberg and at the Palmengarten in Frankfurt...
