It looks surprisingly healthy and there's bark in the pot, not wet moss. It's an unidentifiable hybrid.

Thanks for your input. This store actually does a decent job with their orchids....also, this one was from a relatively recent shipment so that helps too

I'm not expecting an exact ID, as Im sure its a multi-generational hybrid. Just wondering if anyone had a guess to the possible parent species based on the petal shape...it seemed unique to me...

Green arrows pointing to the "unique" petals I'm referring to. Has anyone ever seen this on a Phal? It's new to me!

It looks like it tried to put out several lip type petals. This is described as "peloric." I had a very cute little Peloric yellow orchid. The next year, it put out regular petals. It could be that as the buds were forming it was given a dose of hormones of some kind.

VERY interesting, I've never come across this before! A dose of hormones would completely make sense considering these are mass produced for retail stores. Hormones= lots of blooms= more likely to sell $$$. Thanks so much for your input! It will be interesting to see how this one blooms out next time

Peloric Phals do occur naturally without a hormonal accident as cause, and are deliberately bred and marketed because of the different shapes. Some have petals that are almost indistinguishable from the lip, much more altered than this. That you have so many flowers of various ages that look similar makes it likely this is genetic and will be consistent in later flowerings. There is nothing unique in the species background of peloric Phals compared to other standard or mini/multifloral Phals. A definite ID of the hybrid is impossible. An internet image search for "peloric Phalaenopsis" will show you hundreds of examples.
