Possibly a coelogyne variety? Male
Default Possibly a coelogyne variety?

I recently purchased this bad boy for 10 bucks at my local greenhouse. I was curious to know what kind of ochid this is. My research has led me to believe it's a coelogyne of some kind. Can anyone back me up? Or prove me wrong? Please.

I don't believe it's a Coel.

I think Random might be onto something w/grammatophyllum but I have never seen a gramm w/out a nest of roots growing upwards. Not to say that it's impossible...just not what I'm used to seeing. Still, the rest of it looks very gramm-like.

If it is a gramm...most get very large. I'm talking HUGE.

Can we get another shot of the leaves? The leaf shape is hard to tell. Some of the oncidium hybrids I have have pseudobulbs that big. The leaf might help us better identify it. The best way, is just to wait until it blooms, then post a picture of the flower. I would assume that it's care is similar to that of the oncidium alliance and use it as a place to begin with it.
