I bought this guy at a silent auction during our orchid society meeting several months ago--He surprised me with a bloom--He had no name, just 'Cattleya hybrid' on the tag--The flower has a purple cast and a bit of yellow in the throat--Probably a long shot, but might anyone have any idea what he might be?--
Reminds me of Mexican Laelias, especially anceps. You mention a long shot.
Pictures of the whole plant to give an idea of the plant aspect would also be useful.
What makes me doubt of anceps is the flowering season.
It is going to be a long shot indeed, but i think it is a cross with Laelia anceps coerulea, the shape of the flower and lip give that away. What is visible of the plant also indicates that. The plant looks compact so there might be some Laelia alaorii in it too? That could have played a part in the more roundness of the lip. But without a confinatiom from the seller it is still a 'good' guess....
