I purchased my fiancé an ice orchid at the local grocery. It died over a year or two ago. Not sure if or what orchid type this is.

Do you remember what the blooms looked like? This looks more like some sort of flowering bulb. Perhaps Narcissus, as they are commonly sold in grocery stores.

Definitely not that. My guess is that the pot had some other plants in it (bulbs?) that are now growing.

What was the phal doing in potting soil? That is so strange. Just add ice phals are not put in that type of media. They are usually potted in sphagum in a clear plastic lining and put into a nice ceramic cashepot. The pot in the photo is black or dk. Green, and has choire or other potting soil in it.

I'm wondering if it is possible you are mixing up pots in your mind.

I believe he means he had at one time gotten a just add ice orchid now he has purchased this plant and wants to know what it is. Any way that is how I took his post.
