Question Please help identify phalaenopsis variant

At least, I think it's a phalaenopsis variant. I figured it's not a NOID, as it was featured at the NY Botanical Gardens exhibit... and I'd expect they'd only display real and unusual classified orchid plants:



Anyone know the proper name for it? Is it rare? Thanks!

That is a Vanda hybrid, and a fairly common type. There are far too many similar hybrids to make a positive ID.

There are some less common hybrids that combine Vanda and Phal, but from this picture I don't see that here.

Thanks very much, PaphMadMan! I didn't know about the Vanda variety. Will have to look into this one more. I like that "bearded" ornamentation.
