This little orchid came in a mixed box of No ID rescue orchids. Everything else in the box is of the Oncidium Alliance or a cattleya type ( and one random masdevallia), no idea what this little guy is. It's been pretty beat up in its travels. The leaves are very thin and pliable and the new leaves are growing in a cluster at the top. Could someone point me in the right direction?
Anybody? The seller first said it was a dendrobium nobile hybrid and then that it was an epidendrum. It's clearly not a den nobile, but I haven't seen tons of epidendrum species to compare. Help!
It could possibly be a light starved dendrobium, but lordie unless it's some weird species, it's in bad shape. I don't pretend to know all of any group.
It's in rough shape, for sure! I guess I'll just pot it in some standard mix and see what it does. It's already perked up some with a good soaking and sunlight. What a mystery!
Well... it's still alive. The old, thin damaged leaves have fallen off and it has a few new thick ones growing. No new roots. It does resemble the terrestrial orchid a bit, but I can't imagine how the seller would've gotten ahold of it. Here's an updated picture in case anyone had any new thoughts.
