Default Is this miniature a Vanda? Thai name khem saed

Bought a couple of new orchids today, and just douldn't resist this one. The dealer called it a "khem saed." Saed is the Thai word for Orange. He had another, purple, one he called "khem muan," muan being the Thai word for purple. I'm just overwhelmed trying to go through the Internet Orchid Species Photo Encyclopedia, and he mostly shows single flowers. I stuck a ruler in there when I took this photo so you get an idea how tiny the flowers are. Lovely, really. Can anyone id it?

Yes, Ascocentrum certainly (Vanda now). One of those two species or possibly a similar hybrid.

OrchidWiz does not recognize the name you mention, but that could be a spelling issue. It does list an Ascocenda Khem Thai, but that hybrid ([V. lamellata x V. testacea] x Asctm curvifolium) could not possibly look like the plant in your photo.

It is most likely either Ascocentrum miniatum or Ascocentrum garayii, or a hybrid heavily influenced by one or both of these. Plant width does seem too large for these species, so I think that it is a hybrid.

OK, it seems to be Ascocentrum garayi. The page at the Internet Orchid Species Photo Encyclopedia gives the Thai name as "Khem saet." I spelled it "saed," but the Thai language is problematic to transliterate. What latin character sounds closes to the sound in the Thai language? So this is definitely it. Interestingly the picture of the Asctm. aurantiacum looks just the same to me, and the color is a closer match. Definitely not a miniatum. The petals don't have those veins. Well, the color is hard to capture. To me the Thai name is dispositive. Sadly, it looks like it will only bloom once a year.
