I Like This One But What Is It? Male
Default I Like This One But What Is It?

Another "gift" from my MIL, who gets bored with the plants once they are finished flowering. First time it bloomed for me after growing several new bulbs.

I tried but couldn't find any pics online that resembled either the flower or the plant. Could someone help me with some information on this orchid?

Thanks.

It's a Dendrobium from the latouria section.

Well yes, that certainly would appear to be the correct family! I guess I didn't look hard enough.

I thought that it might have been something from the cattleya family based on the shape/look of the pbulbs--they didn't look like any of the hard cane dens or anosnums which are the only dens I have.

Thanks for your help Sonya.

The den eximium appears to have the same coloring sbrofio, but my flowers do not have any hairs on the petals (sepals?).

Den. normanbyense? Maybe not enough "freckles" for that one though...

Yeah, mine doesn't have any freckles (that I recall, I will recheck when I get home from work).

Based on all the wonderful leads, I came up with Den. Nora tokunaga as a very similar looking orchid. In any case, I would hazard that my plant has atroviolaceum and/or rhodostictum in its' family tree.

Probably as close I can get for a NOID, but I'm happy with the results! Thanks for all the comments.
