Default Disneyland orchid.

I was in Disneyland the other day, wandering by Indiana Jones. And I stopped by the planter out front.

They keep alot of bromeliads, and tillandsia in that planter. Which normally come into bloom this time of year.
And behold! An orchid!
It's clearly been there for a while... not sure how I've missed it all these years.

I didn't recognise it at all though. I know the pictures are terrible. But does anyone have an idea?

I could be wrong but it appears to be some type of Dendrobium. Maybe? Hard to tell from the pics though.

Yes it looks like some type of Australian dendrobium to me.

Thanks guys.
I'm not too familiar with Aussie dendrobium.
Just kingianum which its clearly not.
I wish my camera could zoom better.

Odphien:
Check out Dendrobium speciosum - I just looked at Jay's internet orchid encyclopedia to be sure - the picture of the plant and the bloom could almost be one of yours - which, by the way, are great photos. You have a good eye.
To be certain, a real close-up of the bloom would be required, but it look a lot like Dend. speciosum to me.
Thanks for the nice pics!

That certainly looks very very close...
Next time I go I'm taking a good hard look.
This is so exciting!
Now I wonder... why aren't there more?

Yeah - with their climate and the increase in admission, you would think that the place would be dripping with orchids! If I were in charge, they would be everywhere!!!!

I think I have a goal lol. Sneak orchids into Disneyland. It's so sheltered from wind, and some areas are their own little micro climates.
Someone clearly thought about it. And what's best is it's not exactly a grocery store orchid variety. Surely some cymbidiums and oncidium would be right at home. Even more dendrobium, maxillaria, and zygopetalum too..

Don't get me started on the price increase.
I dislike how Disneyland is currently being managed. I feel like they are trying to manage all the parks on a whole, using Disneyworld as a model. Instead of treating each park as an individual.

But maybe they have things planned I wouldn't believe.

We can hope for the best! And I think sneaking a few little epiphytic orchids in would be a great way to contribute! LOL.
I have heard of people getting kicked out for taking plants from amusement parks, but sneaking some it....????? Maybe you could wrangle an admissions discount out of them!!!! Yeah - right!!
