Ground orchid or what the heck?

It is a reed stem Epidendrum. They are grown outdoors in many warmer locations, usually in a prepared bed (= not plain garden soil).

I found these one day growing in a clay soil bank

I grow mine outside in my garden.
Sent their roots right into the soil.
