Default Valentines day present

I got this orchid for valentines day today. I don't know what variety it is. Can anyone take a shot to identify it so I know how to take care of it. It has pseudo bulbs at the base. Long flat leaves.

The fuchsia spotted flowers? Something in the Oncidium alliance, you might get lucky but probably won't ever know an exact ID.

try googling

Beallara Marfitch 'Howard's Dream'

and see what you think

If it is, then you have an Oncidium Intergeneric, and can look up culture sheets here on the OB

There's quite a range of care for different oncidium clans. I feel you need to try to narrow it down further, or you can just see what the reactions to treatment are...and adjust I guess.

The Beallara was developed from four genera, and tends to grow from hot to cool. Best color will be intermediate to cool.

the usual: Open, airy mix; let almost dry off and water again (think twice or three times in summer); fertilizer lightly with each watering; use clear water once a month and flood the pot with it--called flushing--once a month.

happy growing

If it is beallara, your lucky, those are awesome orchids. I think yours seems a bit pinker than Howards Dream. Might be the monitor or something else. There are a few Howard related Beallaras now.

I loooove beallaras! I just got my frist one- it's lunatic fringe "ikes yikes" and it smells like pepper. I don't love the smell, but the flowers are to die for!
