I got this orchid at Lowe's and it smells when I put my nose up to it. I thought it looked like a zygopetalum (may always be a NOID) and I had to get it, it was 11.99 so it wasn't that bad of a price. Does anyone have one similar to this? Is the fragrance strong or light? I always wanted one of these and I am very happy with this one 😄 Hopefully someone can ID it so I can add a name to this beauty.

I have this noid also (I purchased from TJs). I don't have any clue as to what it might be. It is one of my favorites. It blooms each year and I love its odd drab lavender top and the bright purple/fuchsia. I've always thought it might have some Miltassia in it but....who knows. I don't remember a scent. Maybe someone else has a clue.

Looks like Oncidium alliance - intergeneric hybrid

Very pretty one, too!

Yes, an Oncid type, not a Zygo, but a precise ID will be virtually impossible.

I'm not that familiar with Zygos, but from the shape of the blossom and the PBs my uneducated guess is an Odontoglossum type intergeneric hybrid.

I'm in agreement with WhiteRabbit.

MrsSky the scent is very faint, but barely there if I put my nose up to it. Well my quest for a zygopetalum continues....... 😄 thanks for the responses MrsSky, WhiteRabbit, PaphMadMen, and Voyager.
