OK, I'll bite.
What is this:

It is growing out from under a Dendrochilum magnum.

It looks to me like it might be a Bulbo type.
I just noticed it today.
The flower is probably not fully open.
Updated pix when and if it does.

Wow, you're so lucky. Its definitely a lobbii type Bulbophyllum but the flowers need to be open for identification of the species.

Agreed. Looks just like my Bulbo lobbii 'Cathy's Gold' but no way to tell until it opens. Maybe post a picture once the flower opens?

another one? You've had them before? Envious. That sphagnum moss is it to keep the roots cool?

This is at least the third one I've found in the plants I picked up from the nursery that's going out of business.
Most of the plants I chose were from his personal collection, not from those grown in bulk for sale.
In fact some had "Not For Sale" tags on them.
He didn't batt an eye when he totaled them up for me.
So, he was liquidating everything.

I began using moss as my primary potting medium while growing in-home in Ak.
It worked very well for keeping roots moist in the very dry household air while allowing good air circulation around the roots.
It is a good medium for use on the rafts also.
I have grown to prefer it to any other type of potting medium.
Although, I've found that it is not for some, like the Equitant Oncidiums.
Their roots need to dry out very quickly.
The moss will not allow that.
They do not do very well in it.
They do not do well even when mounted on trees.
It rains too much, too often for them.
They even need protection from the climate here.
They would probably do much better on the Leeward side over near Kona.

Well, if I'd have waited another day I could simply have announced that I have a Bulbo. dearei [or so I think]
Plus, if I'd have looked closer when I bought the Dendrochilum magnum, I'd have seen the difference in the PB's between the two species.

The Bulbo doesn't grow out from under the Dendro.
It grows OVER the top of it.
Guess I'll never make an "Orchid Hunter"!

My official guess is Bulbophyllum dearei:

It is lightly fragrant, nicely too.
And, as the air circulates around the blossom, the lip vibrates in an up and down direction as if it were attached very lightly by a very thin attachment.

It makes me think of a large pendant flowered orchid [I can't remember its name] whose lip also tends to wobble around, but triggers some kind of a reaction when you touch it.
I'm not sure, but I think it shoots a pollen capsule out of the flower.
I'm reluctant to touch this one.
I don't want to trigger a reaction, yet.

Now that you say it, it IS easy to see the bulbo growing right across the middle. Well, lucky you!
