I don't think phals and dendrobium can be bred together.
Phal dendrobium are from a section of dendrobium where the sprays of flowers look superficially like a phals.

I agree. You cannot believe everything. Phaleanopsis and dendrobiums definitely cannot be bred together. The 'phal' part just refers to the way in which the spikes resemble those of common phals.
The genius Dendrobium covers over 1500 different species of orchids. It is so large that the species are split into 8 different sections. One of the sections is Phalaenanthe, which includes all of the Phal-type Dendrobiums. Phalaeonopsis cannot be crossed with Dendrobium. Almost all phal-type Dendrobium hybrids came from Den. bigibbum or Den. phalaeonopsis.
