I think this is an Ascocenda

Someone wrote that Ascocentrum and Ascocenda are no longer used as species but are now classified as Vanda, but I'm still going to use the older name. My niece's boyfriend's mother gave me this one today. It's not as spectacular as some of my others, but they still aren't blooming anyway. The main plant is about nine inches (about 23 cm.) tall and the leaves are only about half an inch wide. As an aside, this type of leaf is called "strap-leaf", right? Anyway, the flowers are about 1 inch across (about 2.5 cm.) The closest match I've been able to find so far is Ascocentrum garayi, but that has orange flowers. I went through all the Vanda pictures in the Internet Orchid Species Photo Encyclopedia and couldn't find anything similar. Actually, all the Vandas seem to have narrower sepals and petals.
