What kind of den?
I know this is dendrobium, but a more precise ID would help me give it proper treatment. This is the only den I have, so I am pretty clueless.

Nice bloom....if it's noid, it will be hard to tell...your best bet for the name would be just dendrobium noid. I have a few noid, and it's just stay without name. It's hard sometimes to ID them since u have no clue of the parentage.

I don't know either but it looks more like a warmer growing one than the type that need a cool winter rest. I'm no expert tho. Do you know where it came from? Maybe you could contact the seller.

It came riding along on the basket of a neostylis last summer.
Warm growing dens, is that a nobile variety?

The Nobiles are the cool growing ones. Phal type Dens are one warm growing type but there are others. I am not real knowledgeable with Dens but have a few Nobiles and a few warm growing ones that look more like yours but not close enough to give you any better idea.

Hi Joy! good to "see" you! I think it is a Dendrobium Nobile. The closet I could find on the Internet is here: http://www.berkshireorchids.com/dendrobiumnobile.html

To me the flower doesn't look like the Nobile type at all. They have round fat petals and this one as slim dainty petals.

Hi Joy, this is likely Dendrobium moniliforme or perhaps a hybrid of near-100% moniliforme ancestry. Either way, it should grow well with warm and moist summers, cool/cold and drier (NOT bone-dry) winters, bright light short of full sun, and excellent drainage at the roots. In my experience very tolerant of a wide range of conditions, though, and yours certainly looks healthy.
Nice flower, BTW! Is it fragrant?
