Definitely a Habenaria. And most likely a rhodocheila but might be another yellow species (xanthocheila is yellow). Either way...it's definitely a Habenaria and the culture is the same...they are terrestrial and they have a dormant period.

When it drops it's leaves...don't water normally or you will rot the tuber. I drizzle just a little bit of water around the outside edges of the pot about once a week when it's dormant...just enough to keep the tuber from shriveling up completely. Of course, I grow under hot and dry lights. W/your humidity you might not need to worry about that. Ask others who grow this in your climate how they grow them.

When it wakes up and sprouts leaves...resume normal watering and fertilizing.

I have rhodocheila...regular color and red. I still need to find a yellow variety.

Thanks much katrina! I regret not getting a white. The show ended today. Many exhibitors had them
