Looks like some red or purple-this is as exciting as watching a birth! (Only prettier)

I'm thinking that when I walk out into the room today, this bud will have opened for me...
Of course, there will be a picture

Default Okay folks, time to educate me

The bud opened today and there are problems. I'd like to know what might have caused this and what I can do to avoid it in the future;

First, the petals were overlapped. I had to "nudge" the right one into place. See first thumbnail pic:

Second, in the center, at the bottom of the lip, there's a hard white spot. What could that be? See second thumbnail pic:

The pics don't show the true colors, which are very pretty but they do show the problems

Sue, its not fully opened yet! Why not wait till it opens all the way? Maybe it will correct itself. The colors are sooo cool!

Nah, there's a problem. Maybe not with the shape or color, but that little white spot should not be there.

Yup! It's hard, like a calcium deposit or something.
