Phal NOID possible ID?
Somehow the evil grocery store knew I was coming and put a pitiful NOID out on the clearance rack. Green roots but limp leaves- I think it will come back fine. Anyway, for curiosity's sake, I was wondering if anyone had an idea about the background. It's one of the more unusual color combinations I have (so far). It will stay a NOID but I like to have a guess at the hybrid as well just for fun. Note the blooms are deteriorating. There is a bud forming though- we'll see if it manages to continue on unless I decide to just sacrifice the spikes.
The closest I've come with google is Pine Ridge Orchid's Ho's Exotic Twist but it doesn't seem right (http://www.pineridgeorchids.com/phal_harlequin.htm). Maybe some Yu Pin Panda in there....? Good thing I find this fun and not annoying.

If it has purple leaves, then it might be yu pin pearl. I've seen Yu pin panda with a tag at a big box store in the last six months, so that's my bet for what it is if the leaves are more green than purple.

The leaves are green but they are also very sad right now so I wouldn't say at their best. But I see no purple on either side.

It's more than likely yu pin panda then. That won't help you much in terms of its care though. It needs the same care as other phals, maybe a bit more light.

Thanks- I figured about as much. It's hanging in the kitchen in the quarantine location. I'm fooling myself into thinking that it's already happier in its nice new pot and media.

Hi, Suzanne!
You will not enjoy hearing what I would do in this event, but I would make the sacrifice with the goal of maximizing letting the plant reclaim its health with an eye on being able to enjoy its blooms in future years.
I would cut off the existing spike altogether.
With yr current strategy, which is entirely understandable---it's new, fab blooms and we all love blooms--- you are asking a great deal from a not really well, dramatically lovely Phal.
I would lighten its burden at this juncture.

The blooms are actually pretty pitiful...I'm probably going to cut the spikes. They are fading fast. I'm just a bit sad because one of the spikes has a new branch but...like you said. Better to move that energy to the roots and leaves.

Come on....if you weren't normally kicking and screaming, BUT also implementing the New Plan anyhow.....would you be any of the things I get you are?
NOOOOOOO!
We often come face to face with our true character in the nuances of sacrifice-demanding choices.
Rock on Diva!
