It's not Epidendrum nocturnum. I had one before, and Katrina is correct, the true Epidendrum nocturnum does not have a flattened pseudobulb. Epidendrum nocturnum has compressed canes.
The flower on this orchid doesn't look like Epi nocturnum either. It's hard to describe the differences, but they are there. I was able to tell the difference immediately.

You are correct King. Thanx to gnathaniel it has been positively identified as Epidendrum oerstedi, as there were enough legible letters on the tag to match up with E oerstedi, now correctly known as Coilostylis oerstedii, renamed in 2004.

The accepted genus name for oerstedii is Epidendrum.
General Internet searching is not the most reliable source for accurate/currently accepted names....lots of misinformation abounds. Always check Kews World Checklist of Plant...it's the most reliable source.

[QUOTE= Kews is always my first go to for name checking.[/QUOTE]
It was a link to Wikipedia, not a copy and paste. Just click on it and it will take you to Wikipedia, which is the first place I go, then to OrchidWiz. The only thing I can surmise is they may not have gotten the word on the other side of the pond! ) I have learned that Wiki goes to great lengths to insure accuracy, prior to publishing.

I'm sorry...you misunderstood. I meant I couldn't copy/paste the webpage I was trying to share. So, I included link.
Kews/RHS = pre-eminent resource for all that is orchid nomenclature. You can call your plant whatever you like however, the accepted name is Epidendrum and it's been an Epi since at least 2012. I suspect the change back was earlier than that but I don't know for sure.
