Help! Hubby strikes again!

It's a lovely Miltoniopsis! I love these and have several of them, one in bloom and several in bud right now. I struggle with keeping spots off the leaves. These belong to the Oncidium family. But they are cooler growing (or less heat tolerant) than some. They prefer moist medium that never totally dries out but if it is too wet, their fine roots could rot. I am experimenting with keeping mine moister than I used to and it seems to be working a bit better, although I never did let them dry out totally. They need medium light and do not like hot sun and warm temps but if they can cool off at night, they can survive a few warm days. Their leaves are naturally a paler greyish green compared to many orchids. A nice breeze is good too. Enjoy!

Thanks for the info silken! Do you know what causes the leaf spotting? Are yours fragrant? Mine has a lovely scent.

Yes. I'm afraid at the very least he needs meetings...I'd ask for volunteers to sponsor him but I'm afraid I'd end up with twice as many!

No, I wish I knew what causes the leaf spots on lots of my Onc. type plants. Some people say it's getting water on the leaves, but that is definitely not the case with mine. They never see a drop, almost literally. And my friend hoses all hers down and hers are spotless. Makes no sense. Maybe I should get water on the leaves!

Mine have lovely fragrance too! And the blooms usually last reasonably long as well.

If the leaf blemish was not caused by water droplets repeatedly getting on the leaves, or a temperature related problem, then it is an issue with the roots. Roots on plants in the Onc Alliance are delicate. They're rather thin, long, and oftentimes branched in some of them. They are somewhat prone to damage.

The difficulty with diagnosing this problem is that many different causes of the blemishes manifest themselves in seemingly similar looking ways, making it tricky to pinpoint.
