I think these are the only images I have. What is so strange is that bean stalk looking piece grows out of that mass of pyramidal rock hard wood. I'm sure there are better pics on the net, there are what I have.
The orchid in question is definitely int eh cattleya alliance. Judging by lip characteristics, it probably involves bifoliate cattleyas and brazilian rupiculous laelias, not as was previously suggested, mexican laelias. The sepals being broader than the petals and the lip isthmus suggest rupiculous influence, as does the inflorescence habit.
Can you not get a picture of the entire plant, unobstructed?
