No, I don't think it's an alata. I do, however have one that looks just like it. I'm going out to the greenhouse a little later...will check what the tag says on mine. ( encyclias are my favorite orchid ) BettyE.

Went to the greenhouse, and looked around outside...the closest thing I have to yours is an encyclia Gail Nahagaki. This is a cross between a enc. cordigera & an alata. Close in looks, but not exactly the same encyclia. I suggest that you go to Google, type in encyclia alata and then click on "images." BettyE.

Just went to images on Google...I was wrong...I believe that IS an alata! Beautiful one, too. Well grown. BettyE.

Thanks BettyE, the seller said it probably was E. Alata but he wasn't sure about it, actually there was 2 different plants in the same pot and I noticed that because the flower are different, the second plant has darker flowers.

Yes, the second one looks like one of mine that I have mounted. I LOVE encyclias, and yours are lovely! BettyE.
P.S.Your second encyclia looks just exactly like my Gail Nakagaki, which is a cordigera x alata. Mine LOVES growing mounted!
