Help with mystery tag!
Default Help with mystery tag!

Hello,

I inherited a few orphan orchids, but a few have faded tags im trying to identify.

This one has me stumped. It look like it reads:

Lc. Port of Raines?
Any guesses?

Thanks!
Tom

That looks like Lc. Portia to me. There is a C. (Ctt) Portia. An old, not uncommon hybrid. It may have been called Lc. at one time in the recent past. Couldn't find a cultivar of 'Raines' in OrchidWiz tho so I don't know what that word is for.

Lc. Portia Rain ?

The name may have been changed to something else, but that definitely looks like "Portia" not "Port of"

Thanks for the input! Some of the plants are 30+ years old. I has read that some all Laeliocattleya are now considered just Cattleya, so maybe that's part of it?
Maybe Raines is an unknown grower, it would have originated from here in Florida most likely. Thanks again, I appreciate it!
