Got an orchid for Mother's Day and am trying to identify it. Can someone help me with the label? This is what is says:
P. Chang Yuan Jaia 'Green Grape'

I've tried searching for that on google and am not coming up with anything.

It doesn't have any flowers right now so I'm just trying to figure out what it will possibly look like.

Thanks

I can tell you that it's a phalaenopsis. I've found references to it, but no images for it on google so as far as what it will look like, that will more than likely end up being a surprise for you! I would love to see pics when it blooms for you!

I have one that I assumed would be a common hybrid. It's a white mini phal. So I was surprised when I googled and found only the pics that I took and posted on OB.

Thank you.
When I typed in just Phalaenopsis Chang Yuan it shows a yellow flower with purple spots. Does the tag mean that it's a hybrid between that plant another? Is the second half of the tag the other plant?

No. The spotted one is a different hybrid. I expect, given the name, the flowers will be a yellow green color, similar to green grapes.

I think Chang Yuan may be the name of the nursery that created the hybrid, but I'm not too clear on how that works. I have two orchids named "Phal Yushan" but they have different parents and look completely different from each other. Totally different plants.

Okay. Thanks for your help. I will just have to wait and see. That will probably be quite some time as it's a pretty small plant.

Are you sure its a Phalaenopsis? P. is used to denote the genus Platanthera.

Either case, Chang Yuan Jaia is not a registered hybrid.

I have another Phalaenopsis and the leaves of my new plant look identical.
