What type orchid is it?
Default What type orchid is it?

This flower has been forming for the past 4 months.
It is finally opening. I have never seen any orchid flower showing the hairs on this one. The plant looks like a cattleya type. Can anyone tell me what is it?
I probably should wait until it is completely open.

My money's on Rhyncholaelia digbyana. Nicely done! I look forward to seeing it open, this is one of my favorite orchid species.

It would help a lot to see that whole plant in focus and with something to indicate the size. Or a good picture of a fully open flower. But if it looks like a Catt, with that lip, I'd say Rhyncholaelia digbyana.

Photos of your guess do match the look of my plant.
I think you nailed it. I will post a photo when fully open.
Thanks.

Here is a photo of my plant and the sheath about two weeks ago. It does look like a Rhyncholaelia digbyana.

Yeah!, great entertainment to watch it develop the bloom, however, I read that the flower only last about one week. Hope there will be more thru the summer from other shoots. A gem among the more common ones.

I read the flower only last one week. Is it true?
