This beauty belongs to one of my friends. She acquired the plant as L. anceps ver. Coerulea 4N. The plant bloomed recently. For the first glance at the flower, it does resemble that of L. anceps var. vietchiana. But its lip, however, looks similar to the labiata-type cattleya which makes it quite different form the typical anceps.

Personally I think the one may be a hybrid but could be an old one since it could hardly be found at our orchid fairs.

Could anyone give me some ideas about it ?
Thanks in advance.

Pheli,
For sure it isn't anceps; a hybrid is the best guess; do you count the number of pollinea? If it has 4 pollinea, it's a Cattleya or a Lc (for me Lc is the best guess); if it has 8 pollinea, it's a Laelia (probably a hybrid Laelia x Laelia, I never saw a natural Laelia like this!)
Anyway, a beautiful NOID!!

I agree with Frederico. However, whatever it is, I could make room for it!

I would guess that Laelia anceps is in the background, perhaps one of the parents. The other could be Laelia pumila which would give fatter petals and the tubular lip.
Just my guess......

Thanks for all suggestion. It is definite that this is a cross of L. anceps, but still difficult to guess what it is. I would tell the owner to check the pollinea number if she did not cut the flowers off.
