Perhaps I can get some help with this orchids identification. I had it a long time but it died. It was my wifes favorite and I'm trying to replace it. Can anyone help?
It's an Epidendrum hybrid of some sort, but there are many that come in red/orange so it's impossible to tell. The best you can do is probably a lookalike. I say hybrid because the petals and sepals are so wide...never seen that on any species, but could be wrong.
Cal-Orchid is well-known for their Epidendrum hybrids and you could try contacting them specifying a color and they might get you something close or at least in the same color palette.
I agree, it's a reed-stem Epidendrum but I'm not sure which one. Some South Florida Nurseries carry them even if they don't sell other orchids. Epicendrums are sometimes used as landscape plants in the Miami area.
Stokes Tropicals has one very similar color in a very large 10 inch pot for (I feel) a fair price. The petal color seems the same. The lip is a bit lighter orange. It is a very nice plant.
