Mind if I add some pics of a NOID that looks very similar if not identical? Also in flower right now (go southern hemisphere!) I'd call it the same but would love some input.
It has...sheaths?...on the stems that come out in a zig-zag pattern (hence my nickname "zigzag") and very round bases to the stems - the latter I associate with bowringiana.
Second pic is of a division that has already flowered.
nothing more beyond bloom color, texture, size, shape, and bloom time.
I have a "tipo" and a "black prince" and they always tend to bloom about 2 weeks apart. The tipo is mediocre in all respects, while the black prince is better shape, color, size, texture, etc
(Guarianthe or Cattleya) bowringiana is very likely. I'd be surprised if it is a hybrid. Guarianthe is the accepted genus, but it is still commonly seen as Cattleya.
