D. polybulbon is now considered the proper name for E. polybulbon.

I go with Encyclia

the International Orchid Register does not list any species in the Dinema genus. Since this was a Laeliinae group it appears to no longer exist with the reclassification of Laelia.

RHS list Encyclia polybulbon as a natural hybrid and not a synonym. After it was changed form Dinema it was classified as an Epidendrum and then changed again to Encyclia. I usually see it with name tags still using Epidendrum.

It seems to be for sale everywhere this year.

I have to apologize since a search of Kew Monocat list shows Dinema polybulbon as the accepted name and Encyclia as a synonym Just shows you can not trust even the official registrars

I wonder where this conflict comes from.

Jerry, I completely sympathize. The name changes are enough to drive me crazy (trust me, it's a short drive anyway).

I have a plant that used to be an Oncidium, then it was Chelyorchis, recently I found it's now Rossioglossum. I just call it "Bob" now.

there is talk that they want to eliminate all intergeneric Oncidium names and make the all Oncidium.

This is similar to the elimination of Ascocentrum (now just Vanda) which also eliminates Ascocenda (formerly cross of Vanda and Ascocentrum).

I hate to tell the Neofinita group on this site that the family no longer exists and they are all just Vanda now. Vanda falcata.
