brassia hybrid?
Not sure what this is but I know it has a name, the sepals are greenish and twisty and the labellum is huge yellowishwhite and frilly. there are 23 flowers total and each one is just under 4". This is because most of the ovate shaped pseudobulbs have double spikes, the lead spike has three or four flowers and the secondary spikes have two.
I have also apparently started a pod with pollen from degarmoara jay yamada 'kauai' so at some point in the summer or fall I will attempt to flask or ex vivo the seeds...or both

It does remind me of some intergeneric hybrid involving brassia. It's definitely not strictly a brassia hybrid (i.e. there is at least one other genera involved).
I couldn't really offer up any specific suggestions on what the cross might be, but maybe someone else will have seen it before and can offer some insight.

Looks like a miltassa to me. The lip is very shelob-ish. There are several green brown spots with white lip. Photos not very good.

Sorry about the photo, it is at 6400 iso inside at night under a distant incandescent bulb with bracketing at 2 stops to make it brighter...I will bring it back outside to use the sunlight today to do another one!

Try googling :
Beallara Tropic Splendor 'Golden Gate'
And see what you think.
It is a Classic...been around for over 30 years, still one of the best---great grower, excellent large size blossoms, etc.
Regarding crossings...beallara is a quadrigeneric -- Brassia, Odontoglossum, cochlioda, and miltonia.
Two of these are 56 chromosomes diploid, and the other two are 60 chromosomes diploid. They are notorious for as little as 15 % takes, and for making mules. Occasionally Tropic Splendor, and Tahoma Glacier make fertile offspring. These two are the most used parents too -- both ways.
good luck with your cross. You might be a lucky one!
Take care
Enjoy your beautiful Beallara -- others will insist in the new nomenclature making this an Aliceara, but I can't get a very good handle on the new versions from the screwballs at KEW.

YES! Thank you so much for identifying it! Can you believe it has TWENTY THREE 4" blooms on the way!?? Only 9 are open now and the first flower that opened got the pollen from the Degarmoara memoria. I could tell by flower size/shape alone that it was an intergeneric and that there was some polyploidy or extra genes at work, which is why I didn't use the pollen from it on the reverse. It's good to know not to expect a miracle so to speak, since plants of weird ploidy are not going to grow and bloom properly, but it's been about three weeks since fertilization and the pod hasn't aborted (yet). If I do get a pod it will be good practice at least.
