I've got a number of miniature phalaenopsis that I've been collecting but I don't know the name for any of them since they were all bought at various Krogers, Home Depots, and Trader Joes. Now that I'm learning more about orchid propagation I'm wanting to know their names now! First up is this one (I've nicknamed it Sunset Blush for lack of a proper name), one of my most recent purchases from Trader Joes.

Oh it is very pretty. I think that is a good name for it. Are they just add ice ones? I have 3 of them, one is blooming still since September and the other 2 are in spike again I got them sometime this summer.

My avatar is one of them.

It didn't come with any labeling on it beyond the Trader Joe's price tag, and I'm not sure where Trader Joe gets their orchids from. Lovely avatar!

I just purchased this plant as a Just Add Ice orchid. Love the colors because the yellow and magenta are just so vibrant!

Mine is showing signs that it might be a sequential bloomer. I love sequential bloomers and only have a couple in my collection, one of them is Phal Yushan Little Pearl. It's probably my favorite mini phal in my collection. If this one is also a sequential bloomer, I might have to add it to my favorites list!

I'm pretty sure this is Phalaenopsis Sogo Go Tris.

Google it and let me know if this looks like your plant!

Yes! Mine looks almost exactly like the search results, especially this one here. Should I still put NoID in it's name, or is it alright to call it a P. Sogo GoTris now?

Also, it looks like a sequential bloomer to me, too, I'm trying to keep it away from drafts so it won't get bud blast on me like another NoID next to it seems to be doing.

Since it's a hybrid, we can never know for sure that this is the plant's name. There are about six hundred ways to get to plants that look just like this one.

The only way to know for certain what a plant is, is to have it tagged when you purchase it.

I think it's nice to know what we think the plant might be though, so we can get an idea for what sort of growth habits to expect and whether they are sensitive to certain amounts of fertilizer... things like that.

Well then, I'm going to call it (NoID) P. Sogo Gotris (mini) for now Wait, is it P. or Phal. for a Phalaenopsis?

Phal is short for Phalaenopsis, so they're the same thing. It's just faster to type "phal" on the forum.
