Default I swore I wouldn't... but I did.

I said to myself the other night. Hmm... my shelves are looking crowded for my taste. And I dont really want to crowd them more.
This coupled with my increasing interest in miniatures is why I decided that night that I really didn't have room for anymore standard size plants.
I swore to my myself that I would get anymore plants except for one's with pre allotted space.

That blew up in my face today. I shouldn't have gone into trader Joe's...

I got two more zygopetalum crosses!
I'm a huge sucker for the "blue". And fragrance. Plus I've discovered I really enjoy my zygo flowers, and the plant is gorgeous to me.

So... the first one is incredibly fragrant.
My whole room is drenched in its smell.
Like hyacinth and lilacs.
It's an incredibly pretty purple.
One that shifts from "blue" and grey, to a bright amethyst, to a deep royal purple depending on the light. The inside is light green. They cup a little and have this ostentatious breezy feeling that I adore.

The plant is compact. There's two spikes with about 4 flowers each.
The flowers present poorly but I can fix that I think.
I believe this one isn't pure zygo.

This one I do think is pure zygo...
My other zygos have thinner curved petals. This one has rather round flat short ones.
The fragrance is also divine. Seriously just as strong. Made my whole downstairs smell for hours just by being in the kitchen for 30 minutes.
It also smells of lilacs and hyacinth. But with a distinct hint of clove and an undercurrent of white wine.
Two spikes each with 8 flowers.
The plant isn't too large but not add compact as the other one. Some mechanical damage to the buds and leaves.

And lastly this twinkle like oncidium.
Tiny flowers that open yellow but turn cream and green. Smells like cupcakes.
I got it for a specific reason lol.

Wow! Those are both just fantastic! Congratulations on finding such beauties!
I think I'd kick out a few cattleyas for those.

The zygos are amazing, going on my list for sure. Especially the second one. The fragrance you described sold me (and your beautiful closeups of that veiny labellum). I would also like to know more about this 'ostentatious breezy feeling' you mentioned.

The twinkle is super cute. The ones at my local shop were red and smelled like cotton candy to me.

Luckily I'm just aesthetically out of room.
Not actually out of room lol. So I can stand to squeeze a few in I think.

Zygos are. I've got two others I love as well lol.
The fragrance is divine. It's mainly morning and noon. It starts fading after that.
Isn't the labellum delicious?
I saw those two yesterday and had to wait all night before I could go get them. I tried to be strong and walk away. In the end I just ended up stressed that someone bought them.
It's.... got a very happy loose sort of feeling to it. Breezy. Light. They look like they could be the flowers that little fairies wear as dresses.

The twinkle is actually the only thing I went in for originally lol.

On Saturday I was in a greenhouse that had a couple of Zygo hybrids in bloom. The fragrance is wonderful! I had a little species zygo years ago, but these ones have big flowers. This addiction is terrible. I almost got out of there with just the red phrag that I came for, but Burr. Nelly Isler happened to be on my list too. I wish I had room for a zygo!

Indeed! This makes 4 different kinds of zygo I now own from Trader Joe's.

I hope you find one!
You should! I just set up a set of t5ho and I'm excited to fill the space.

Beautiful isn't it?
You better hope I don't kill it lol
My others are fine so far though.

I'd be happy to do that for you!
Actually they had one more. I could go back and get it for you if it's still there.

I'm not sure if it will still be there, but if it is, I would be happy to pay for it and the shipping.
