Mislabled Oncidium of some type?
I purchased this guy last year, clearly labelled as a Miltonidium Bartley Schwartz 'Highland', as I'm a big fan of fragrant orchids.
This year it has begun to flower nicely, and most certainly not what it was labelled as. I'm assuming it's an Oncidium, or something within the general vicinity of - just wondering if anyone could shed light on what particular variety it might be, or indeed if it's just a generic mutt?.
I'm not too upset - I've always loved copper, orange and earth tones in orchid blossoms, so it's still a lovely plant - just not at all what I was expecting.

Right, its really disappointing to get a tagged orchid plant and then find out it is not the same as the ones in the pictures in the net....
is there any way you can get in touch with your seller and show your picture? Maybe they will remember what your plant really is.

Yeah, disappointing when you don't get what you paid for, but it is nice. Hopefully you can contact the vendor and get an ID.
It looks like a Wilsonara to me, which is an oncidium intergeneric. Reminds me of Wilsonara Aloha Sparks or a similar hybrid. But that is just a guess.

I doubt the seller would be of much use. This is the third orchid out of a fairly large purchase from him that has been completely and utterly mislabeled. I'm beginning to wonder if he knows what he's selling at all

Thanks muchly for the Wilsonara tip, some google-fu indeed suggests it's most assuredly in that family somewhere. At least I have something more accurate to put on the label now
EDIT: The Wilsonara Aloha Sparks 'Halloween' looks pretty darn close to me. Perhaps a full name for the tag?

Try googling photos of these:
These have been available / or are available now in the orchid trade for the past five or six years. These are likely candidates for your plant:
Wilsonara Aloha Sparks 'Pacific Flame'
Wilsonara Aloha Sparks 'Ruby Eyes'
Odontocidium Sunny Daze 'Hilo Bay'
Odontocidium Sunny Daze 'Mauna Loa Dawn'
Odontocidium Catatante 'Pumpkin Patch'
Odontocidium Catatante 'Kilauea Karma'
When photographed in normal light, no flash, I would vote for Catatante 'Kilauea Karma.' My Catatante 'Kilauea Karma' looks exactly like yours when viewed in person in the greenhouse.
My two cents.
Hope I have been a little help
Take care

Cheers for that!.
Odontocidium Catatante 'Kilauea Karma' is really very close, right down to the flushes of yellow around the petals/sepals. The flowering habit of mine is quite different though, it has fewer, larger blossoms with wider petals/sepals when compared to the 'Kilauea Karma' - if I had to take a guess at what I've discovered through you guys, I'd say it's a cross between Wilsonara Aloha Sparks 'Halloween', which seems to lack the yellow cresting but is identical otherwise in hue and flower size/habit and the aforementioned Catatante 'Kilauea Karma', which has identical colouring but different flowering habit.
