A Dendrobium, but what type ?
Default A Dendrobium, but what type ?

This one has just bloomed for me. The plant itself looks a little like a small D.Speciosum (not that it is a specosum, just that the plant looks very like some smaller speciosum plants I have) - the tallest canes are around 6 inches tall and maybe 3/4" thick, it has 4-5 fairly thick and stiff leaves on each cane, and has just the one flower spike that emanates from between leaves on one side. Its a short spike with 6 flowers each around an inch across, yellow to pale orange with a brownish to purpleish spot in the centre.

I've been looking through a few books and can't really find anything that looks like this one ?

The pot in the pic is 5"

Any suggestions would be appreciated

It almost looks like D. Gatton Sunray to me, but I'm not sure that Gatton blooms from a terminal spike...

That was one that caught my eye as a possibility, but the book I found it in says it is a much larger plant / flower.

Hi,
it looks like either dendrobium chrysotoxum or den.fimbriatum var occulata.

It does indeed I think I'll go with that.

den.fimbriatum var occulata - very similar, but this one has bigger flowers, and considerably smaller, thicker canes ( I have a few den.fimbriatum var occulata that flowered a month or so back for comparison)

Thanks
