Fuchsia Dendrobium ? Male
Default Fuchsia Dendrobium ?

I know that it is a dendrobium. Can anyone help me get more specific. I just found it at Lowes on clearance for 5 bucks!

The tag says low light. Does this seem right?

I saw one of these at lowe's sold under the name "Dendrobium Hollywood." I almost grabbed it. It's a nice pinkish purple. Love the color... but I wasn't sure I was ready to try these. Now I'm wishing I'd grabbed one if it's a lower light plant!

My dendrobiums are in bright light.
Near cattleya levels.
Some are in the sun almost all day.

Some dens do need filtered light, or indirect light tho, so you should probably google this hybrid and find out which it needs. I did find that this variety does require a winter rest.

Good question!! I don't know much about them. The one I have is very different from yours. Care requirements for it are specialized. So hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in!

Looks like a den-phal type - maybe some antelope type in there as well ...

I don't know about antelope types - but den-phals like moderately bright light; no winter rest

Hopefully others will chime in!

It's lovely, btw

It is a 'phal-type' dendrobium so it shouldn't lose its leaves but will when it is stressed. These guys like to be decently warm, like plenty of water while growing and temperatures are higher, less when they are not growing and temperatures are lower, and prefer cattleya light. Their roots are sensitive to over-watering so a very small pot with bark/moss or a large one with rock/leca.
The old canes, as long as they are green, will bloom. These are wonderful orchids.
