Well Grown But Unidentified Brassavola
Got this Brassavola today. It is NoID but I'm pretty sure its nodosa. The lady I got it from didn't speak English and I don't speak Spanish. I think she said it was Brassavola blanco, tho I'm not aware of such a species. It has a spike coming between almost all the leaves, Can't wait to see it bloom, then I can be sure of its identity, hopefully.

I'm not sure how long it takes for the spikes at this stage, to flower, but are they close to being open? Or can u see any color in the buds?

Spikes continue to grow but no flowers yet. |

growths are too sturdy and thick to be nodosa, unless it is 4n on steroids.
I would suppose a beautiful hybrid.
Please show us the pictures when it blooms.
Petit Stars opens a bit purplish pink but goes white in a couple of days, and only has a bit of color way down in the heart of the lip.

The growths actually look quite a bit like my much smaller (by amount of growths) nodosa 4N - that's what the tag reads anyhow. Photos I posted of it brought up debate on the possibility of it being grandiflora - tho seems there is also debate over that being a variety of nodosa or a distinct species ...

Ok, so its starting to flower. The first flower is mostly unfurled. It is very white. As you can see it looks a lot like "little stars" but I'm no expert. Each of the 15-20 spikes have up to 6 individual flowers coming on. I was actually hoping it was nodosa, but I'm not complaining either way cause it is about to be spectacular.... probably in about a week!
