Is this an orchid?
Default Is this an orchid?

Hi Everyone,

This plant was given to me and I noticed the roots look similar to orchids. Can someone advise on the species and general care?

Sure is. Looks like Epidendrum ibaguense (AKA radicans) or a hybrid of it.

Nice one. Give it lots of light, don't let it get too dry, and it will grow like a weed, which it is considered to be in some tropical areas.

Agreed, I know of a house here in Naples, Florida Zone 10b where it is used as a hedge and is cut back to a box shape every 3 months or so. Grows like a weed here. The Lowes sells quart pots of it that are stacked full. I love mine. So easy to grow and in regular garden soil. But really you can grow it in just about anything. Hot Very bright and wet.
