Default NOT Tolumnia sylvestris

I've had this one almost five years and not gotten it to bloom until now. It was tagged/described as Tolu. sylvestris ... It does not seem to be so. I've seen a few photos of some other micro-miniature type Tolus that look similar, but not sure which this may be.

Anyone have an idea?

I haven't checked - it's so tiny, it's possible it may have a scent, but be undetectable to me ... I will check in the morning ...

Cool little plant, Sonya, but I don't know its identity.

Hehe - thanks Ron - I'm a bit disappointed it isn't sylvestris, but it is kind of cool.

Hopefully in the future it can get some more blooms - that would make it cooler

No fragrance that I can detect - but, allergies are bothering me, and this bloom is so tiny, I can't say positively it has no fragrance.

These are easy little plants to bloom. They normally grow on the branches of trees, so the roots are not planted in media, but do well mounted or placed in a little clay pot with stones in the bottom. I have had several for years and they hang outside or set on the porch table getting filtered sunlight, and normal summer to winter day lengths. I fertilize every couple weeks by dipping in a weak solution of Orchid fertilizer, and water them every day or so with the hose if it does t rain. They start blooming in January for me and are still blooming now in July. I think the cooler longer days are essential to set blooms in fall-winter.NOT Tolumnia sylvestris-imageuploadedbytapatalk1373338054-909123-jpg. Hope yours will bloom next season.

Thanks - I've seen different looking bloom photos all supposedly of the species, so I'm unsure what I have.

I've been growing this a few years - just wondering what it is, since I am unsure of it being sylvestris. It is blooming now.

If you saw the size and growth habit, you can see growing potted is not really an option for these extremely tiny (micro-miniature) Tolu species. I do have a potted hybrid that does great as well.

Thanks

I looked at the photo by the drink can and this is not an orchid I am familiar with, but it doesn't look like Tolumnia, which have pointed fleshy leaves.

I am wondering if this could be a sophronitis. Google it and take a look. Leaves are similar, it's lithotropic. I have one mounted on a stick which has red flowers. They come from Brazil.
