That sounds good. I bought mine because it happened to be staring at me when I was at the grocery store. And it's my favourite colour.

I then joined this forum to learn how to care for it. Having joined makes me want more. Vicious cycle really.

Oh yes, it is addictive. I think most everyone started out with one or two NoIDs and it expanded from there. I started with two on the windowsill, then some on the coffee table. That forced me to by a small table and put it by the window. Then I needed a 4 shelf rack by the window. Three shelves are occupied by orchids, the bottom shelf holds orchid supplies. OMG I just counted, I am up to 27 orchids! Now I really have to stop!

Wow, that sounds like quite the collection. I want as many as you! ...some day. Are most of your flowers different colours and types or do you usually prefer similar ones?

If you can flower a phalaenopsis orchid, paphiopedilums make great companion plants. They are sometimes called lady slipper orchid

You have a very beautiful plant there I like the color.
I agree with Carpe Diem, they are addictive. I own 15 and I bought one today. *sigh* I feel bad for my wallet.

flexdc, I just googled paphiopedilums - and they're SO pretty! I'd previously seen pictures of these but thought they were some rare species that I'd never find. It helps to know what they're called. Thank you! I'm reading more about them after I submit this reply...

shushu45, thank you! I love the colour too. I'm hoping to only purchase plants that yield flowers in colours I don't already own. I think I'll enjoy them more if each is different. I suppose a hole in your wallet (or 15 holes) is worth it in most cases. They're all just so pretty! (Orchids, not wallet-holes.)

bellatrix, I have mostly Phals and Paphs in various colors. I also have a variety of onesies, like one Wilsonara, one Dendrobium, one Oncidium, one Tolumnia and so on. I found that I can grow and rebloom Paphs and Phals and the onesies are experimental. I want to find out which ones do best in my environment. All of my orchids have new growth and are healthy, so the growing part is going well, getting them to bloom is a different matter. One of my experimentals ( Eplc. Haiku Twinkle 'Red Elf' ) did bloom for me in early March with two flowers, it was the cutest thing ever. Now it has four new growth and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for blooms in March.
