I was told the first pic is a Phalaenopsis, I'm not sure about the second one.

I was given this orchid last year when i was in the hospital. Not sure where my niece bought it from.


This is a rescue from lowes- only time will tell if it survives..The bloom is smaller than the first one. I'm thinking a mini-phal from what I've seen, I'm too new to growing orchids to know how to tell the type.

Yes, the first one and the second one are both phalaenopsis ("phals"). Care for the mini phal is the same as for any phal.

Yes both Phals.

The second flower does look a bit like Sogo Vivian but you can't be sure. I think Vivian also has variegated leaves but basically if it didn't have a label then you can't be certain exactly. That doesn't matter. All you need to know for care is that they are Phals

Mini Phals are just phals that stay small. They are all Phals but sometimes people like to classify the size as well.

Non-variegated Sogo Viviens were the most common ones until a couple years ago. Nowadays all the cool kids have the variegated ones, me included.

A non-variegated SV was one of the first orchids I killed by root rot as a beginner. Great little bushy multifloral though.

Lowes store employee nearly killed this one, I'm trying to revive it. I''ve cut off the flower spike so the orchid can use it's energy in regrowing it's roots.

Interesting, I might have a NoID that might be that then. I didn't think it was because of the non-variegated leaves. Anyway, it will always be a NoID, but good to know what it could be

I call mine Phal Vivian, with a marker that indicates to me it's a NoID. I often give them my own names similar to the name of one I think it is very similar to. So I know it's close to that, but also know it's a NoID.
