Nanook, I have struggled with lost tags -We have chipmunks that seems to love to pull them from the pots and throw them on the ground. I think they want to sleep in the bark.
So, I started photographing each orchid when I buy it, especially as if it is in flower (which is usually the case). I store the photo with the proper name. Then when one with a lost tag orchids flowers, I match it up. I've "re-labeled" 4 or 5 this way now.
Until the no-tag orchid flowers it gets a NOID tag with a number so I can continue to track it's progress.
Just a practice that works for me that I thought I'd share.
