Default Colmanara Wildcat

Hi Island Girl - Thanks for your continued interest! Yes, it's certainly a Colmanara Wildcat as the wisdom of OB had decreed. I'd been waiting for her to finish opening for a photoshoot, but you inspired me to go for it today!

I can't detect any scent from the flowers at all (though not normally known for my keen sense of smell).

I've been just letting her do her thing with minimal care and maximal observation.

Part of me wants to delve further for some concrete ID, but I'm pleased enough to call it "Wildcat" and admire. (although 'Everlasting' looks pretty close...)

Thanks again everyone!

Looks a lot like a "Wildcat" to me - I have a very similar one and some of the pseudobulbs are rather fat round rather than the flat disc shape that many oncidium-types carry. Nice bloom spike BTW. It's very happy obviously!

Maybe not all of them are fragrant. Or maybe it will still come. Perhaps is fragrant only certain times of the day. Mine is fragrant, and it has a very nice jasmine scent of some sort. I think it's very difficult to describe scents.

But regardless of scent or lack of it, ENJOY THE FLOWERS!

I'll put my daughter on the sniffing task. She's the olfactory queen around here. She keeps wanting me to get some vanilla scented orchids.

You should try an Angraecum magdalenae. One flower perfumes the whole house. There is certainly a hint of vanilla in that fragrance, and they look really nice too.
