Cymbidium aliofolium? Male
Default Cymbidium aliofolium?

Hi again.

This was ID'd by a visitor as "Cymbidium...something starting with "A"". I'm moderately sure it's aliofolium. It's got the right kind of leaves, thick and kind of waxy looking. It flowers with no special treatment in Brisbane, Qld, unlike the "grassy" cyms which apparently need cold water baths or icing in Jan/Feb.

I know next to nothing about Cyms but I have a C. findlaysonium which has exactly the same kind of leaves, thick, strong, slightly waxy. It also flowers with no special treatment around here.

Any suggestions?

Cheers,
Aus.

it's Cym. aloifolium (oi, not io). the name means it has leaves like an Aloe.
the other one should be spelled finlaysonianum.
The two are closely related. Both are hot growers, and do not need the cold winters many of the other Cymbidiums need.
