I found this Cattleya blooming in a part of my collection I call "The Pile". I thought it was an intermedia, but as i looked at it the more it looked like a hybrid. At first i thought it might be C. interglossa, but then I thought, maybe not.

The flower is the standard size of C. intermedia, but the flower substance is thick and waxy. The plant is leggy as any bifoliate, but not large like C. amethystoglossa or C. guttata. The looks to me like its mostly C. intermedia, but the lip has a bit a pale yellow on the inside. I've been trying to think of which bifoliate Cattleya would give yellow in a cross.

Sorry for the quality of the photos. On a positive note, I've identified the cat in the background in some of the pics. It's Cocoa.

Thanks for your help.

Ha! It's Cattleya Barbantiae Coerulea. I said nuts to it this morning and pulled the plant out of its pot to see if the tag had slipped deep within......There it was all tangled in the healthy roots. Don't freak out! I live in Florida and all of my bifoliates are in active growth and sending out new roots. As for the two good flowers....I'm harvesting pollen today.
