Help with decyphering tag? Female
Default Help with decyphering tag?

Hi all, I have this phal and the tag is a little too confusing for me. Can someone help me understand what it means?

Help with decyphering tag?-photo-2-jpg

On their website it's written as: (Atticus X Judy Champion) X (Happy Valentine X Happy King) 'Pine Ridge'

Are they the same?

Thanks!

per Orchid Wiz - using the tag info

Judy Champion x Happy Valentine = Dtps Krull's Happy Champion

Dtps Atticus x Dtps Krull's Happy Champion = not registered

As the above is not registered then the cross of the above with Happy King is also not registered.

so what happened is the Krull's was registered after the cross was made and the tag wasn't changed. It looks like Pine Ridge was the breeder.

Not sure why the website differs from the tag. They have to tell you why.....and which is correct.

Only there are no more Doritaenopsis. They are all Phalaenopsis now according to the RHS.

So weird, I'm not on great terms with the breeder as 5 out of the 6 plants he sold me had both ORSV and CymMV but I'll ask and see if he replies...

I had a strange experience with a tag. I got this orchid and after it flowered I contacted the seller and said that the tag doesn't match the plant- the plant looked like x. He said he would contact the breeder. Well after 2 follow ups he said the breeder said that there had been a mistake, and I was right - and I should just manually change the tag. I said !!. He sent me a new tag.
Then there was the major online retailer selling a plant with the wrong grex listed online. I knew because I had just bought the plant ! I e-mailed him 2x. No response. Then I called him and pointed out the problem. He thanked me profusely and got it changed on the website - after telling me that nobody else had picked it up in the last year.
Based on these experiences, and others, its no wonder I am a bit sceptical about what goes on in the industry.
